Good to know

Before you land.

A few practical things travellers ask us before every trip. Nothing complicated — but easier to sort out at home than at the airport.

Visa (ETA)

Almost every visitor needs an ETA before boarding, even where it is free of charge. Apply only on the official site — eta.gov.lk — and beware of copycat sites charging extra. Approval usually takes a day or two.

Two airports

Colombo (CMB) is the main gateway, about 8 hours by road from Jaffna. Jaffna airport (JAF) sits 30 minutes from us and takes domestic flights. We meet you at either, at any hour.

Money

The currency is the Sri Lankan rupee (LKR). Cards work in cities and hotels; carry cash for small towns, temples and roadside stops. ATMs are easy to find in Jaffna.

Phone & internet

Local SIM cards are sold at arrivals in both airports and are cheap. Coverage is good along the A9 and across the peninsula. Your driver is on WhatsApp throughout the trip.

Plugs & power

Sockets are 230 V, mostly three round pins (type D/G) — bring an adapter. There is USB charging in the van, so phones and cameras stay full between stops.

Getting around

Sri Lanka drives on the left, roads are narrow and busy, and distances take longer than the map suggests. That is rather the point of a driver — you look out of the window instead.

Rules and prices change: always check the official sources before you travel. Last reviewed July 2026.

Questions, answered.

Your quote is all-in: the van, the driver, fuel, parking and highway fees. Entrance tickets to sites, meals and your accommodation are not included. What we quote is what you pay.

Tours

Of course — photo stops, food stops, a temple or a viewpoint on the route. It's your trip. Just mention any planned detours in your request so the fixed quote covers everything.

Destinations

Yes — airport pickups anywhere on the island, including CMB and Jaffna (JAF), at any hour. Send your flight number with the request and the van is at arrivals when you land.

Airport transfer CMB → Jaffna

No online payment. A small deposit confirms your booking, and you settle the balance at the end of the trip — in cash (LKR, USD or EUR) or by bank transfer, whichever is easier for you.

Plans move — that's travel. Message us on WhatsApp and we'll adjust dates or routes wherever possible, free of charge with reasonable notice.

Yes. Mention the ages in your request and a child seat can be fitted before pickup. Long drives are broken up with stops on request — the schedule is yours.

The van

About a week ahead is ideal, especially for multi-day tours. Same-day trips are often possible when the van is free — message us on WhatsApp and you'll know right away.

Yes — weddings, temple festivals and family events are welcome. For Nallur festival season in August, book early: those weeks fill up fast.

Weddings & events

No — we don't offer on-board Wi-Fi, and we'd rather say so than promise it. There are USB charging points for your devices, and local SIM cards are on sale at both airports on arrival, which is what most travellers use.
