A9

The A9 — the road north

One road links the north to the rest of the island: the A9. It runs about 320 km from Kandy in the hills, through Dambulla, Vavuniya and Kilinochchi, then across the narrow causeway at Elephant Pass into the Jaffna peninsula. Point Pedro sits half an hour beyond its last kilometre. It is the road we drive most — in both directions, all year.
